Investing.com - The price of the digital currency Bitcoin fell sharply on Thursday, hitting its lowest levels since early June. Other cryptocurrencies were also lower.
The declines came as Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) chief executive Mark Zuckerberg was to appear before a Congressional panel over his company's plan to launch a digital currency Libra, although there was no obvious connection between the two events.
The Libra project faces amid widespread skepticism amid fears over regulatory challenges and the potential threat it poses to the global financial system.
