  • Less than two years after MIR4’s first release, Wemade launched MIR M: Vanguard and Vagabond.
  • On July 1, MIR M ranked 1st on Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Play as the most popular game.
  • The global version of MIR M will be released by the end of 2022.

Imagine your favorite video game announcing the end of service and marking the end of an era of great conquests, strategies, and memories. While most games fade away at some point down the line, well-made games have a better chance to withstand the test of time and be played by hundreds of millions of players over decades.

A great example of this is the Legend of Mir series developed by Wemade, a South Korean game company established in 2000, which has gained countless loyal fans worldwide through the success of its MMORPG Legend of Mir series.

Legend of Mir Series

MIR4 re-introduced the Legend of Mir IP in South Korea in November 2020 and in August 2021, with the global version being released in 12 languages and 170 countries. It featured Play & Earn (P&E) concept on Wemade’s own blockchain platform Wemix. It gathered 6.5 million monthly active users within just a few months, which is a phenomenal success for an MMORPG.

Less than two years after MIR4’s first release, Wemade launched another highly anticipated installment of the IP — MIR M: Vanguard and Vagabond — on June 23 in South Korea. MIR M is based on one of the fan-favorites Legend of Mir 2, launched in 2001.

The lifespan of video games is not very long. Tens of thousands of new titles are introduced every year, and it is not easy for a game to transcend generations in such a highly competitive industry.

The Legend of Mir’s long-standing success is fueled by the loyalty of its fan base, with some having played the series since childhood. Wemade has provided constant updates, weekly events, and a strong sense of community, which contributed to creating an everlasting cultural phenomenon.

MIR M: Number 1 Downloaded Game in South Korea

As a result of this much-anticipated release in South Korea, MIR M immediately entered Google Play’s TOP 10 chart and quickly climbed to 4th place in terms of sales, proving its early success. On July 1, MIR M ranked 1st on Google Play as the most popular game. This success surpassed that of its predecessor, MIR4.

MIR M’s online community is filled with praises of the game’s colorful, detailed graphics based on Unreal Engine, 8-way grid battle, incredible storyline, and solid worldview. For the millions of players who remember the Legend of Mir 2, MIR M brought a nostalgic reinterpretation of the game with the same item names, regions, and more.

Technological innovation also immensely improved gameplay through auto functions (like auto-questing), which reduces fatigue. In addition, MIR global community is looking forward to enjoying the game on the Wemix platform.

Wemix platform enables players to earn game tokens by playing games from a wide range of options and then swapping them to WEMIX coin, which is listed on over 20 global exchanges. It currently services 15 P&E games and plans to service 100 games by the end of this year, both produced in-house and by outside developers. With the WEMIX coin as the key currency, it makes it easier for players to swiftly move in and out of various games, trade NFTs, and manage their assets.

What’s Next for MIR M?

The global version of MIR M will be released by the end of 2022. Similar to MIR4, the new title will support multiple languages and have P&E blockchain features implemented.

The early success of MIR M, coupled with the immense global success of its predecessor, and the launch of the WEMIX 3.0 mainnet, strongly indicate the worldwide hit of the MIR M global version.

Blockchain Gaming Projections

The boom of blockchain technology has added value to multiple sectors, from finance to healthcare, but arguably the most fascinated industry that it has impacted is the gaming industry. From a zero-value market size, the blockchain gaming industry grew to $3 billion in 2021.

Furthermore, it is projected to rise to 39.7 billion by 2025. As blockchain technology advances, there will be more phenomenal games in the industry that will push the projection even higher. By then, the Wemix platform will have hundreds of games where users can enjoy them all by easily transferring assets acquired through one game back into other titles.
