The King of Crypto is back in the news again as organizers of the self-proclaimed ‘largest crypto event in history’ announced over Twitter that the cybersecurity magnate would not be delivering his live closing speech today. According to the official BWC post, the cancellation of his live appearance is due to concerns over his and the audience’s safety.
“Due to a number of credible death threats against Mcafee”
Despite this cancellation, the tech tycoon does reaffirm that he will not be deterred by the recent events and intends to live stream his speech from an unknown location.
So Who’s Threatening John Mcafee?
Last month Mcafee took to his infamous Twitter page to tell his 845,000 followers that he had been issued ‘SEC threats’ to stop him working with/ recommending ICO’s. These threats came not long after Mcafee had expressed his outrage at the SEC’s decisions to remain rigid on their views that “every ICO [they’ve] seen is an ICO”.
Then, four days later Mcafee was suddenly hospitalized in North Carolina after being allegedly poisoned by his ‘enemies’.
Finally waking after spending three days unconscious, Mcafee confirmed to his loyal following that he was still alive and broadcasted to those that tried to kill him,
“I know exactly who you are”.
Not long after he posted a picture of a man on his Twitter, offering a $5,000 reward for anyone that could identify the person or produce his name and/or whereabouts.
Whoever they are, they haven’t succeeded in removing John Mcafee from the crypto space. Despite his James Bond-esque lifestyle, Mcafee continues to promote his new unhackable Bitfi wallet and the humanitarian-driven Docademic (MCT) blockchain project.
For many attending the last day of the BWC today, the missed opportunity to see the King of Crypto will be sorely felt.
