Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) is collaborating with Digital Asset to bring its Blockchain platform to its cloud platform. For Digital Asset, the partnership with such a formidable tech player is expected to greatly improve its reputation as a distributed ledger solutions provider.
On Monday, Digital Asset announced that it would be working with Google Cloud through a collaboration that will give developers a suite of tools and services. They’ll be able to use them to build, test and deploy distributed ledger applications on-demand without having to configure the underlying platform.
In a statement about the collaboration, Digital Asset’s CEO Blythe Masters said:
“We’re partnering with Google Cloud to provide developers with a full stack solution so they can unleash the potential for web-paced innovation in Blockchain. This will reduce the technical barriers to DLT application development by delivering our advanced distributed ledger platform and modelling language to Google Cloud.”
Digital Asset scores big with Google
In addition to bringing Google Cloud its Blockchain platform, Digital Asset will enjoy Google Cloud joining its private beta developer program. This program provides a select group of technology partners, software vendors and global financial institutions with access to a specific software development kit called Digital Asset Modeling Language (DAML).
DAML is a smart contract language designed specifically for use in Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) applications that align business processes across organizations. According to Digital Asset, DAML “simplifies the task of writing smart contracts by treating agreements and the parties to them as native constructs and hiding ledger details from the developer, and contains guardrails to protect against delivering contracts that can produce unpredictable results.”
Digital Asset notes that this will allow so-called “Solution Architects” across Google be able to access the DAML SDK Developer Preview to explore Blockchain applications with their clients. Combined with the DAML SDK, developers now have an end-to-end toolkit to build and deploy sophisticated distributed applications.
Leonard Law, Head of Financial Services Platform at Google Cloud, said the following in the statement:
“We are delighted to innovate with Digital Asset in the distributed ledger space. DLT has great potential to benefit customers not just in the financial services industry, but across many industries, and we’re excited to bring these developer tools to Google Cloud.”
