Former Brazilian footballer Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, known as Ronaldinho, is not staying aloof from the cryptocurrency hype and announced the launch of his own crypto-coin. Ronaldinho Soccer Coin, with the ticker RSC, was built on the NEO blockchain platform.
The RSC Project has been developed in collaboration with the World Soccer Coin (WSC), a startup located in Malta.
The total supply of the RSC coins is 350 million, out of which 150 million will be offered in a private sale that starts in a few days. However, the project’s whitepaper has not been published yet.
The NEO-based RSC token will fuel a whole ecosystem called Planet RSC, which comprises the Ronaldinho Soccer Academy, Smile Project, a betting marketplace, Ronaldinho digital stadiums, and more.
Ironically, the announcement was made via YouTube and Ronaldinho’s Twitter account on July 6, 2018, the same day when Brazil’s national football team, where Ronaldinho used to play until 2013, lost to Belgium in the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup.

Ronaldinho, who is famed for having won two FIFA World Player of Year Awards and a Ballon d'Or, has played for clubs like Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Milan, and Barcelona.
Now he is converting his popularity into a project that will revolve around the RSC cryptocurrency. The coin will be used for the following services:
- Accessing digital stadiums, Super League and e-Sports, and more;
- Buying digital content using virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR);
- Betting in the Super League and e-Sports;
- Using the training program at Soccer Academy;
- Supporting a football team, players, and the Smile project (backed by WSC);
- Purchasing goods online.
Ronaldinho is not the first football star to come up with his own cryptocurrency. In May, we reported that James Rodriguez, who has played for German club Bayern Munich and the Colombian National Team, had launched the JR10 token.
