Spanish football club FC Barcelona aims to launch an NFT collection and is seeking to engage with fans in the metaverse (‘Barca Metaverse’). The club’s president Joan Laporta is looking for new ways to generate profits and create new possibilities for the fan base.
Laporta also revealed that Barca plans to launch its own cryptocurrency, and with blockchain technology, the club can create many benefits for the club’s 300 million fans around the globe. Barcelona also embraces virtual and augmented reality to provide viewers with the best match experience.
“We are innovative in the use and adaptation of technologies and we will continue to be so. In recent times there has been a lot of attention to blockchain products and services such as NFTs and metaverse … We should be able to offer digital products to our members, our fans that will align with the value of the club and generate a very interesting emotional experience,” Laporta said.
