Over the last years, Delaney – also a label veteran of Island, Mercury, RCA, Arista and J Records in the US, UK, Australia, and Asia – has been involved with a variety of music tech start-ups.
Family in Music is building a new music creator network that will revolutionize the way creators work and get paid with the aim to help protect the revenue and rights of songwriters. The company has recently unveiled a new set of digital tools to aid songwriters, with a particular focus on the DIU creator. The DIU creator economy is the fastest growing in the global music industry, according to MIDiA Research – but often the least represented. The Family in Music Writer’s Toolkit will initially comprise of Song Title Checker, a tool to check whether a song title idea has already been used or if there are titles that are very similar, Airplay Revenue which monitors the radio play of stations across the UK and Finland and compares it to the tariffs that the royalty collection agencies have put in place, MgNTa, a new online music industry identifier to help protect the revenue of the next generation of songwriters using blockchain based technology, Cover Song Finder which searches over 100m recordings and creates a report of all likely cover versions helping the writer receive the correct revenue and Royalty Advance which allows a songwriter who gets an advance through the tool to retain 100% ownership of their masters and receive the majority share of royalties.
