  • Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) has launched a new feature called the “token-enabled playlists”.
  • The feature would allow NFT-holding users to unlock exclusive content.
  • Currently, the feature is applicable to the NFT holders within Overlord, Fluf, Kingship, and Moonbird communities.

The digital audio streaming service Spotify has launched a new feature called the “token-enabled playlists” that allows users holding specific NFTs to unlock exclusive content by connecting to their wallet.

At present, the new feature of Spotify is applicable only to users who hold NFT collections in the NFT marketplaces like Overlord, Fluf, Kingship, and Moonbird. During the upcoming three months, the curated playlists would be updated on the platform and the community members can access them through a specific link.

Notably, Overlord, the leading digital marketplace for non-fungible tokens, tweeted on February 23, that Spotify would open the project’s community-curated “Invasion” playlist to the crypto aspirants who hold the Overlord’s lizard-themed Creepz NFT project:

In addition, Overlord clarified that the pilot would be currently available only for Android users in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.

Interestingly, as a response to Overlord’s tweet, Spotify confirmed the platform’s declaration that the former has been selected as one of the partners of the latter in a new pilot, stating “thrilled to explore with you!”

Similarly, the Universal Music (AS:UMG) Group’s NFT band Kingship tweeted that the band would allow the Kingship Key Card NFT holders to access the new playlist created by them featuring Queen, Missy Eliott, Snoop Dogg, and Led Zeppelin:

Notably, a spokesperson for Spotify told that the platform “routinely conducts a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience”. He added that some of the tests result in a “broader user experience” while others serve only as “important learnings”.
