With meme coins on the move, the team behind Dogecoin (DOGE) just completed rolling out their fee reduction upgrade on transactions on top of the DOGE blockchain. The upgrade is called Core 1.14.5 which is now live for users aiming to buy Dogecoin and pay a low fee.
As the community is jumping and shouting at the update about the upgrade, users are recommended to be aware of it as there are going to be important security fixes. As brought by the upgrade, at the moment, the recommended block fee limit for transactions has been set at 0.01 DOGE per KB in the core wallet. In essence, this follows the relay fees in 1.14.4.
Eventually, the 0.01 DOGE per KB has been set mainly as a default fee for all on-chain transactions from now on. As said, security fixes and performance improvements are also a top priority along with this release. This makes it a requirement for wallet users and node operators.
