It seems as though Stan Lee, the creator of celebrated fictional characters such as Spider-Man and Hulk, has come back from the dead to embrace new Web3 technology and sell his graphic novel’s NFT collection.
The Chakraverse collection is based on Chakra The Invincible, a superhero created by Lee in 2012. The first NFT collection will contain 6,880 unique artworks from the comic, representing the original characters. Orange Comet, the next-generation content studio that uses Polygon blockchain, is the creator of the collection inspired by Lee.
From championing diversity to embracing new tech, Stan was 1 step ahead of the curve. To honor his innovative spirit, Stan's 1st Indian hero, Chakra The Invincible, debuts in his own NFT (digital art) collection from 7:30pm PT 12/27-12pm PT 12/29! The project aims to celebrate what would have been Stan Lee’s 99th birthday on December 28th, by sharing ownership and legacy in the form of an NFT collectible.
While some are excited about the announcement, most of the writer’s fans are outraged and claim that the NFT launch is disrespectful to the writer.
