Although the legality of cryptocurrencies is still a hotly-contested subject in Indian politics, there are now institutions that work inside and alongside the government that are already making declarations. The latest one to enter this debate is NASSCOM, a trade association for IT and BPO companies in India.
Its president, Debjani Ghosh, came under fire Thursday after saying that cryptocurrencies are illegal and those who are unhappy with the law should petition the government.
“It is the law of the land and hence we have to work with it. If we do not agree, we have to go back to the government and speak about why banning cryptocurrencies isn’t correct,” she said.
