Investing.com -Congress may soon have an expert in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
Brian Forde, the former director of digital currency at the MIT Media Lab, is running for the 45th Congressional seat in California.
Forde was also a senior technology advisor in the Obama administration and served as its point person on the subject of cryptocurrencies.
His goal is to make sure government regulation to protect consumers does not stifle technological innovation and entrepreneurism.
Forde's candidacy has attracted the support of a number of high-profile crypto investors, including the Winklevoss twins. His campaign, of course, accepts digital currencies as contributions.
Forde is competing for the House of Representatives' nomination in the Democratic primary on June 5th.
