Crypto mining malware accelerated its march in the second quarter of this year, according to the latest data from cybersecurity provider McAfee. The McAfee Labs Threats Report: September 2018 said this type of malware registered growth of 86% quarter-on-quarter.
McAfee lead scientist Christiaan Beek commented on the findings as follows:
“A few years ago, we wouldn’t think of internet routers, video-recording devices, and other Internet of Things devices as platforms for crypto mining because their CPU speeds were too insufficient to support such productivity.
