Cryptocurrencies and blockchain are enjoying much attention from the financial industry. Encouraged by it, the crypto space is now aiming to become trendy on the fashion scene.
Blockchain-based digital currency DasCoin is partnering with French haute couture designer Julien Fournié to create a blockchain solution that will secure the fashion design value-chain. The partnership aims to utilize blockchain to address the challenging task of protecting intellectual property in the fashion industry, where the currently available solutions are quite expensive and inefficient.
Fournié commented as follows:
"A fashion designer needs to protect his designs on a daily basis, at various phases of the design process in an easy, secure, efficient manner. Each and every tool contributing to these needs will prove key in the future, so that fashion designers remain the real decision-makers for all of their collections. I am delighted to collaborate with DasCoin to achieve that goal.”
DasCoin believes Fournié is the perfect partner in this breakthrough concept since the designer is known as an early adopter of new technology in his creative process. He is credited with contributing to the promotion of 3D design tools and mobile hardware for fashion designers. DasCoin said that Fournié's concept in relation to global fashion fits perfectly with its blockchain-based IP solution.
DasCoin CEO Michael Mathias said:
“Our unique network design gives us the speed, efficiency, and security to offer blockchain solutions to a whole range of industries that are suffering from huge third-party costs to protect their creative work. By creating a solution for the fashion industry, we are hoping that a new generation of designers can protect their creations affordably and with total peace of mind using the power of the technology we've developed at DasCoin.”
DasCoin said it would create “an auditable, traceable and efficient solution for sharing and protecting designs and authenticating final products.”
Cryptocurrency is not just for the geeks
Last week, Fashion TV announced the launch of a decentralized platform to offer opportunities for upcoming models by providing them avenues to promote their personal brand without the need for intermediaries.
Michel Lisowski, founder and president of FashionTV, said:
“The crypto community is no longer only for geeky tech enthusiasts.”
