US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has reportedly fired “at least” 15 employees from its customer support, compliance and fraud departments. Yahoo (NASDAQ:AABA) Finance broke the news on Friday, citing anonymous sources familiar with the company’s decision.
“People here are pretty upset about it, and so far, senior leadership is handling communications poorly,” said one of the unnamed sources, as quoted by Yahoo Finance.
The publication further claims it had acquired confirmation from Coinbase that there had been lay-offs. Reportedly, most of the affected employees were remote workers, indicating that the exchange may be looking to bring the departments closer to home.
