Input Output Global (IOG), the engineering and research company behind the blockchain platform Cardano, has shared Cardano’s latest Weekly Development Report. Progress made by IOG’s development team includes node upgrades, wallet improvements, smart contract innovations, and much more.

Every Friday, the Essential Cardano platform publishes the highly anticipated weekly development report. The recently unveiled report, issued on May 12, features significant releases and advancements within various core teams.
One of the key highlights of the development report is the release of Cardano node v.8.0.0 by the core technology team, which brings new governance action that facilitates on-chain SPO polls. In addition, the ledger team focused on enhancing the Conway ledger era and node integration.The report also highlights the Daedalus team’s release of the new Lace version 1.1.0, which brings several improvements and features for a better user experience. The team responsible for the development of Cardano’s wallet has also been diligently working on the Lace desktop app to bring support for HD wallets and multi-delegation.Regarding smart contracts, the report highlights the Plutus tools team’s continued documentation of the Marconi-sidechain architecture and improvement of the Plutus Tx standard library. Moreover, the Marlowe team added library functions for contracts’ safety checks and worked on Marlowe Runtime and Explorer.
Another notable update mentioned in the report is the Mithril team’s release of a new 2318.0 distribution and preparation for the Mithril network release on mainnet. Furthermore, IOG, in collaboration with EMURGO and the Cardano Foundation, has announced the successful applicants for the CIP-1694 workshop grants.
The report also revealed Cardano’s statistics. To date, 126 projects have been launched on the platform, with an impressive 1,240 projects currently under development. The total number of native tokens has reached 8.24 million, accompanied by 73,114 token policies. Additionally, Cardano has seen the creation of 7,962 Plutus scripts, including 2,463 Plutus V2 scripts. Ultimately, the platform has also facilitated a substantial 66.3 million transactions.
