- Nailwal, who put together the India relief fund, expresses his appreciation to Buterin.
- Buterin also donated to other charities like Gitcoin and GiveWell.
Vitalik Buterin, the creator of Ethereum, donated $1 billion worth of meme coins to several non-profit organizations. Consequently, he transferred 500 ETH and over 50 trillion Shiba Inu (SHIB) to the India Covid Relief Fund.
Meanwhile, India has been reporting over 350,000 daily infections and 3,500 fatalities for the last two weeks. The second wave of the virus has overwhelmed the South Asian nation’s healthcare system.
This leaves countless people in India to ask for hospital beds, medical oxygen, and other supplies. Hence, several investors and technology giants have stepped up to help India with this pandemic.
Sandeep Nailwal, COO of Polygon who put together the Indian relief fund, organized this transaction on May 12, 2021. Moreover, he appreciated Buterin for the donation and assured SHIB investors this will be spent accordingly. Nailwal tweeted,
Thanks @VitalikButerinOne thing we have learnt from Ethereum and @VitalikButerin is importance of community
We will not do anything which hurts any community specially the retail community involved with $SHIB
We will act responsibly!
Plz dont worry $SHIB holders. https://t.co/M4GxTR0JAn
