Investing.com – Bitcoin traded modestly lower Monday amid a lack of data to determine direction as the popular crypto hovered below $7,000.
Bitcoin fell 0.82% to $6,705.9 on the Bitfinex exchange, after hitting a session high of $6,768.4.
Trading in bitcoin was restricted to a narrow $115 range as traders remained reluctant to initiate large bets on the popular crypto in either direction, keeping the total crypto market capitalization stable.
The total crypto market cap rose to $272 billion, at the time of writing, from about $267 billion at the end of last week.
Bitcoin has range traded over the past week, struggling to sustain a push above $7,000, which some have cited as resistance – price levels that trigger selling.
Ripple XRP fell 2.37% to $0.47480 on the Poloniex exchange, while Ethereum fell 3% to $476.06.
Bitcoin Cash fell 3.36% to $741.94, while Litecoin fell 2.73% to $81.27
