One of the biggest battle royale games on blockchain, Light Night, recently made a crucial decision. Light Night was previously known as the game in which you can earn Bitcoin. Those earnings used to be Satoshis, fractural parts of a whole BTC, but now, the in-game economy is being shaken up.
Recently, the developers announced a shift from the Liquid Sidechain to the Solana blockchain. The move is expected to enhance the entire ecosystem in terms of transaction times and latency. Due to the Solana Network’s advanced infrastructure, the number of transactions per second will rise from 10 to a whopping 65K, while the latency will significantly drop from 50 sec to 0.4 sec. Moreover, Solana’s ecosystem already features more than 30K projects, which means higher interoperability. Put this together and you get some seriously impactful changes.
As a result, the game will run using a new native crypto: $LNC (Light Nite Coin). Moreover, Ligh Nite is switching to a free-to-play model from the game’s previous cost of $20.
Among other changes, the game has rebranded and taken on a new name: ‘Light Nite X’, while the old version will be referred to as ‘Light Nite Legacy’. Generally speaking, the game will not undergo any larger changes, and is still a beloved battle royale shooter, like Fortnite or PUBG. The game’s beta release is scheduled for Q2 2022, with its mobile release set for Q4 2022, and the final release for Q1 of 2023.
