Oil slumps as OPEC meeting ends without agreement on production caps

Oil prices fell to the lowest levels of the session Thursday after a key meeting of major oil producers in Vienna ended without an agreement on production caps. Brent oil was down 50 cents or 0.97% at $49.27 a barell at 9.38ET, while U.S. crude slumped 0.63 centas or 1.24% to $48.37. According to a delegate, the meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries ended with no change in policy and no ceiling put on oil output. The next OPEC meeting is to be held on November 30 in Vienna. The Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said OPEC members will keep talking to keep markets improving. Nigeria's Mohammed Barkindo was voted in as the organisation's new secretary general.
