ZURICH, June 21 (Reuters) - Swiss specialty chemicals company Clariant AG is set to cut 500 more jobs worldwide in reaction to lower sales levels in the chemicals industry, reported Swiss Sunday paper SonntagsBlick.
Clariant said in April it saw no signs of an upturn in forthcoming quarters and that it would have to adjust capacities to lower sales levels.
Around 20,000 people work at Clariant, which makes pigments for products from textiles to cars, including 1,600 in Switzerland, said SonntagsBlick.
The company already announced at the start of 2009 it would cut 1,350 jobs, including 150 in Switzerland after 2008 sales fell to 5 percent to 8.1 billion Swiss francs ($7.46 billion). (Reporting by Jason Rhodes; Editing by Rupert Winchester)
