Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Basic Materials and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which rose 1.77% or 0.575 points to trade at 33.045 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (BR:ELI) added 1.13% or 0.480 points to end at 42.910 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 1.09% or 0.25 points to 23.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Befimmo-Sicafi (BR:BEFBb), which fell 2.75% or 1.590 points to trade at 56.200 at the close. Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) declined 2.33% or 0.16 points to end at 6.66 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) was down 2.27% or 2.15 points to 92.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 83 to 75 and 3 ended unchanged.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.03% or 0.30 to $1065.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.36% or 0.15 to hit $41.50 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.23 to trade at $44.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.0617, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.7045.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 99.95.
