NEW YORK, June 23 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks pared gains on Tuesday after data showed sales of previously owned homes rose at a slower-than-expected pace in May.
The Dow Jones industrial average gained 7.25 points, or 0.09 percent, to 8,346.26. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 2.70 points, or 0.30 percent, to 895.74. The Nasdaq Composite Index edged up 0.98 points, or 0.06 percent, to 1,767.17.
