NEW YORK, June 11 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended gains on Thursday, bolstered by technology bellwethers IBM and Microsoftalong with shares of energy companies.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 83.21 points, or 0.95 percent, to 8,822.23. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 8.75 points, or 0.93 percent, to 947.90. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 19.00 points, or 1.03 percent, to 1,872.08.
