Investing.com -- Pass the popcorn. AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC)'s opening another 170 theaters.
Shares rose 18% on Thursday after the announcements, seven days after it successfully opened more than 100 U.S. locations. Shares have almost tripled since hitting an all-time low in April.
AMC expects to open approximately two-thirds of its more than 600 U.S. theater locations in time for the September 3 release of Warner Brothers’ Tenet. The remainder of AMC’s U.S. theaters will open only after authorized to do so by state and local officials.
New films including The New Mutants and Unhinged will be shown at all open locations, along with old school movies like Jurassic Park and Shrek.
AMC is limiting sales and blocking seats as part of its effort to keep the coronavirus from spreading. It also has a mandatory mask policy.
