For a second week in a row, real estate investment trusts (REITs) in the US posted the strongest return for the major asset classes. The latest gain for REITs unfolded during a mixed run of performances in last week’s trading, based on a set of exchanged-traded products.
Vanguard Real Estate (NYSE:VNQ) gain topped the weekly winner’s for trading through Friday, Feb. 8. The ETF’s 1.5% gain marks the fund’s fifth straight weekly advance and the strongest by far for last week’s performance profile for the major slices of global markets.
At the opposite end of the weekly performance scale: broadly defined commodities, which posted the biggest loss for the major asset classes. The iPath Bloomberg Commodity (NYSE:DJP) slumped 1.3%.
