TripAdvisor Inc. (NASDAQ:TRIP) recently appointed Gary Fritz as its chief growth officer and president of its Asia-Pacific operations.

Fritz is expected to help the company drive growth and implement the formulated strategies across all brands. Also, he will oversee all operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

In his illustrious career, Fritz served in high financial capacities at reputed organizations. He worked at Expedia (EXPE) in the 2003–2012 period. Fritz served as president, Partner Services Group, leading Expedia’s commercial activity and strategy on a global basis. Also, he was in charge of the sales, technology and operations teams of the company around the globe. Prior to Expedia, Fritz served the global consultancy firm McKinsey & Company for three years, working on matters related to telecom and distressed debt practices.

Fritz is an IT industry veteran in technology and software development. He holds a master’s degree from MIT and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Management believes that Fritz’s experience and business proficiency will prove instrumental in helping the company achieve its long-term goals.

To Conclude

TripAdvisor is one of the largest online travel research companies in the world. Its focus on improving its mobile products, expanding into the international restaurant reservation space, improving execution and its marketing strategy provide it with a competitive edge.

The online travel research company has built an extensive portfolio through acquisitions and product introductions. This, in turn, has increased page views per visitor since users now spend more time on its website. However, unfavorable currency translations, higher sales and marketing costs as well as advertising expenses remain concerns.

The company is expected to report second-quarter 2016 results on Jul 28.

Stocks to Consider

Currently, TripAdvisor has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Some better-placed stocks in the same space are Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) , Expedia (NASDAQ:EXPE) and PetMed Express, Inc. (NASDAQ:PETS) . All the three stocks sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
