Markets reacted positively to the release of Canadian retail sales figures yesterday. This index increased by 1.9% in May, vs. the 0.4% growth analysts were forecasting.
U.S. stock markets have reached several record highs this year. The corporate earnings period certainly contributed to recent levels and, particularly to yesterday’s new record for the Dow Jones, which closed the session at 15,567.74. The futures market is pointing to a slightly positive opening this morning.
Most Asian stock markets closed the morning in the red due to the release of the HSBC Manufacturing PMI Index that dropped to its lowest level of the past 11 months. This figure further confirms China's economic slowdown.
On the economic front, U.S. New Home Sales data for June will be released this morning. Later in the day, Reserve Bank of New Zealand will announce its key interest rate decision, which is currently at 2.5%. Wishing you a great day! Rana Karim
