May was not a good month for me, unfortunately. I ended it down 2.58%, bringing my year to date performance to +3.59%.
I placed 27 trades in the month. 19 were losers, 5 breakevens, and 3 wins.
In spite of the down month, I am making improvements and don't think the losses were due to bad trading. One area I still am working on is refining how I determine the direction of the trend, so that I don't trade against it. I also switched to just entry order this month, no market orders, and seeking a higher reward/risk for some of my positions. I think the net impact of this will be more months that are slightly down or flat, but a few months per year that are really big. I think the overall result will be better. If I was taking profits sooner in May, I'd probably have another winner and would be down about 1.8% instead of 2.58%.
Here's a breakdown of the currency pairs I traded and my average duration.
