The carnage that is going on underneath the surface in some growth names while the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 hang out near highs is comical at this point. It’s not only the Fireeye Inc (FEYE), Splunk Inc (SPLK), Tableau Software (DATA), Yelp Inc (YELP) of the world that are getting smoked, Google Inc (GOOG) is down near 18% from its high, Priceline.com Incorporated (PCLN) is down 18% as well, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (CMG) 20%, Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) down 30%. These are not fly by companies, and if the Dow and the S&P 500 weren’t at highs this would not be a big deal because normally the indices will reflect this type of carnage in these names, but they are not as of yet, or maybe growth names will firm up and help the S&P 500 and Dow continue with their march higher. I’m just biding time.
(NFLX) + AMZN + T(TSLA) + PCLN + (FB) + (XBI) + (QQQ)+ YELP as one down 21% from their March high.
SPLK + WDAY + YELP + FEYE + ATHN + AWAY + DATA + SSTK, Momo names gone bad down 47% since their March high.
DIA + MSFT + INTC + CSCO + JNJ + PG + IBM, the safe haven stocks of today are only down 1.8% from their recent high. But how much can you bid up non-growth stocks……
