Via Japan Today: “Honda Motor Co said Tuesday it has agreed with TDK Corp and Japan Metals & Chemicals Co (JMC) to jointly pursue the reuse of a rare earth metal extracted from nickel-metal hydride batteries in hybrid vehicles for magnets of new hybrid vehicle motors.
“In early March of this year, Honda began supplying a battery manufacturer with rare earth metals extracted from used nickel-metal hydride batteries at a JMC plant for reuse in new nickel-metal hydride batteries of hybrid vehicles. Now, Honda will expand the reuse of extracted rare earth metals to motors for hybrid vehicles to achieve the further recycling of this limited and precious resources.”
Current Nickel Prices
The day’s biggest mover was the price of Chinese primary nickel which dropped by 1.1 percent on Wednesday, June 19.
The nickel 3-month price saw a 0.9 percent decline on the LME to $14,050 per metric ton. After falling 0.6 percent to $14,000 per metric ton, the nickel spot price reached a 30-day low.
The Indian nickel cash price inched up 0.5 percent.
