This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES-Z2) are trading higher by 1.00 point to $1387.00 per contract. This is the final trading session before the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Tomorrow, the stock markets are closed in the United States. Normally, today's trading volume will be very light after the first couple of hours barring any major geopolitical events. The light volume will usually keep the major stock markets buoyant throughout the day.
Last night, most of the leading Asian stock indexes traded higher on the session. The important and highly followed Shanghai Index (China) rallied by 1.05 percent by the close. This tells us that the Chinese ADR's could catch a bid today if the U.S. markets are strong. If the U.S. markets are weak traders should not expect much upside movement out of the Chinese ADR's. Some leading Chinese equities that could be in play today include SINA Corp (NASDAQ:SINA), Sohu.com Inc (NASDAQ:SOHU), China Mobile Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:CHL), and the iShares FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index (ETF) (NYSEARCA:FXI).
