Market Movers today
Focus will be on the US employment report for December and we expect it to be strong. We expect non-farm payrolls to have increased by 205,000 in December mainly driven by an increase in private payrolls reflecting that the labour market is recovering. The unemployment rate in December is expected to come out unchanged at 7.0%.
Moody's will publish its updated rating on Portugal (Ba3, stable). The rating is expected to be released after 18:00 CET.
In France industrial production will give more insight into whether the weakness seen in the latest PMIs is also reflected in hard data. We expect a modest increase of 0.4% m/m.
In the UK consensus is for a further increase in industrial and manufacturing production. For both figures this will be the third month in a row with higher production.
In Sweden industrial production is released and in Norway and Denmark inflation is out today.
