For the first time in a year, Danish investors net sold foreign bonds. Furthermore, Danish investors net sold foreign shares for the second straight month. Foreign investors net purchased Danish shares and bonds.
The foreign ownership share of government bonds was unchanged at 36% of the total stock - the highest level in 15 years of available data.
For treasury bills, the foreign ownership share declined to 75% of the total stock, down from 85% in August. Hence, despite the drop the majority of treasury bills issued are held abroad. Investors abroad hold 16% of the total stock of DKK-denominated mortgage bonds - the lowest share since March.
Around 27% of the stock of bonds with a remaining maturity of less than one year is held abroad, 21% of the stock with a remaining maturity between one and five years and 20% with a remaining maturity above five years.
The popular status of Danish assets abroad is one factor that has added support to the DKK over the past couple of years.
