Market movers today euro area finance ministers will today meet at 14:30. The main topic will be recommendations to member states on fiscal and economic policy. There will be particular attention on France which has already announced that it will not be able to meet the requirement of cutting the budget deficit to less than 3% of GDP. There will also be focus on the overall stance of fiscal policy in the euro area in light of recent weak data in the euro area and discussions at this weekend's IMF and World Bank meeting.
There are also a number of central bank speeches on the calendar today. The ECB's chief economist and executive board member Peter Praet will be speaking at 14:00 CET and Bundesbank president Jens Weidmann will be speaking about "conditions for a stable currency union" at 18:00 CET. Finally, Chicago Fed president Charles Evans (dove, voter 2015) will be speaking at 18:30. All speakers have been speaking in connection with the IMF and World Bank meeting so have probably nothing substantially new to add.
In the coming week the most important data releases are euro area industrial production tomorrow and retail sales in the US on Wednesday. In addition it will be a major week for Q3 earning releases.
