Market movers today
The Fed's Bill Dudley (voter, dove) will speak at 09:30 CET. The speech will be interesting as Dudley is at the centre of the Board and generally thinks a lot like Janet Yellen, both being doves. Plosser yesterday said that the Fed should prepare the markets for sooner lift-off but Plosser is a super-hawk, so it will be interesting to find out if Dudley sends a similar message. The latest signal from Dudley was that he supported a hike in mid-2015 and we are keen to hear if he sticks to this view. The labour market has been tightening faster than the Fed expected and Yellen has earlier said that the Fed would move sooner if the job market continues to be stronger than expected. Yellen gives opening remarks at a conference tonight.
Speeches from ECB members. German board member Lautenschlaeger speaks at 09:00 CET, while Coeure will speak at 14:15 CET.
French inflation for October. We look for a slight upside surprise of 0.5% y/y versus consensus 0.4% y/y. The US initial jobless claims are expected to stay low at 280k. US JOLTS data will give more input on the hiring and firing rates of US companies.
