ExxonMobil (XOM) Misses Q4 Earnings & Revenue Estimates

Earnings Miss: Irving, TX-based ExxonMobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) reported adjusted earnings per share at 88 cents, below the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.06. Following the underperformance, the stock fell nearly 3% in the pre-market trading.

Estimate Revision Trend & Surprise History: Investors should note that the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the quarter has been revised upward over the last 30 days.

Moreover, ExxonMobil has an impressive earnings surprise history. The company managed to beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate in three of the last four quarters, the average positive earnings surprise being 8.8%.

Revenue: Revenues of $66,515 million were lower than the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $74,444 million.

Key Stats: Production averaged 3.991 million barrels of oil-equivalent per day (MMBOE/d), lower than 4.121 MMBOE/d in the year-ago quarter. Liquid production fell year over year to 2.251 million barrels per day. However, natural gas production was 10.441 MMCF/d (millions of cubic feet per day), up from 10.424 MMCF/d in the year-ago period.
