Morning Notes
US Futures are flat this morning while European shares were slightly higher in early trading after an unexpected global trade data report that is casting doubt on the strength global economy. Chinese exports slowed more than expected for July in addition to a drop in German exports. Asian stocks closed mostly lower.
Technicals
The SPY (NYSE:SPY) opened just above the ascending resistance trendline during Monday’s session and exhibited strength through the session closing just below all time highs. Support will lie at the low of Monday’s range at $247.37, followed by $246.97, $246.64, $246.37, the 20 EMA at $246.22, then $246.13, the short term pivot point at $245.70, continued with $244.67, $244.31 and the 50 SMA at $244.29. Further support lies at $243.76, then gap entry at $243.30 and gap fill at $242.55. Resistance will lie at the high of Friday’s range at $247.79 and record highs at $248.
