Market movers today:
Focus continues to be on negotiations about a temporary funding bill for the 2014 budget-year and raising the debt ceiling before 17 October. The House and Senate are not scheduled to be in session today and no meetings are planned.
Because of the government shutdown today's scheduled negotiations between the US and EU about a free trade agreement have been cancelled. In the US consumer credit for August will be released this evening, but it looks increasingly likely that the important retail sales data for September due on Friday will not be released.
In Europe the most important release today is the Sentix-indicator, which is the first soft indicator to be released for October. We expect it to decline slightly reflecting the recent moderately negative sentiment in the financial markets. ECB's Jörg Asmussen and Peter Praet are scheduled to speak today.
Norwegian manufacturing data are due.
