In Germany SPD will hold a 'small party' convention where it will decide whether it will enter into talks with CDU/CSU about a grand coalition government and on what conditions. The convention is scheduled to start at 18:00 CET, so there will be no major news from the convention while markets are open in Europe.
In the data calendar main focus is on consumer prices for September in Germany and personal spending and income for August in the US. The government bond auctions in Italy should also be watched closely today after Berlusconi's Freedom Party has threatened to leave the government if Berlusconi is expelled from the Senate.
ECB president Draghi is scheduled to speak at an event in memory of an deceased Italian economist, so we should probably not expect major news about ECB's monetary policy in that connection. Also a flood of speeches from members of Fed's FOMC with Dudley, Evans, George and Rosengren all scheduled to speak today.
