Market movers today
In Europe the most interesting release is German GDP for 2014, which indirectly will give the first estimate of the Q4 growth rate. We expect German GDP to have expanded 0.5% q/q in Q4 after only expanding 0.1% q/q in Q3. If our estimate for Q4 is right, GDP growth for 2014 as a whole should be 1.5%.
In the US the main releases are producer prices and initial unemployment claims. In the deflation-scared market producer prices might get more attention than usual as an early indication on the more important consumer prices released tomorrow.
OPEC is scheduled to release its monthly oil market report. Since a big part of the plunge in the oil price has been due to the OPEC-led price war, OPEC's updated view on the market will probably attract attention.
The Q4 earnings season also steps up a gear with Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C) and Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC) scheduled to report Q4 earnings.
