Chine Coking Coal Price Remains Flat

Nucor Corporation has announced ”that Gregory J. Hayes has been elected to the board of directors effective immediately. Mr. Hayes, 53, has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of United Technologies Corporation (“UTC”), a diversified company providing high-technology products and services to the global aerospace and building systems industries, since 2008,” according to the company’s press release.

“Mr. Hayes joined UTC through the 1999 merger with Sundstrand Corporation, where he served as Vice President, Finance, for Sundstrand Aerospace. He was then appointed Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis, for Hamilton Sundstrand. In 2003, he became UTC Vice President and Controller, and was appointed UTC Vice President, Accounting and Controls, in 2004. In 2006, his responsibilities were broadened to include Investor Relations.”

Metal price news for steel:

Following a three-day flat streak, the price of Chinese HRC climbed by 1.2% to end on Tuesday, February 18. The price of Chinese coking coal remained essentially flat. For the fifth day in a row, the price of Chinese slab remained essentially flat. The price of iron ore 58% fines from India was range bound.

For the fifth consecutive day, the cash price of steel billet held flat on the LME at $355.00 per metric ton. The steel billet 3-month price continues hovering around $360.00 per metric ton on the LME for the fifth day in a row.

The 3-month price of the US HRC futures contract remained essentially flat at $631.00 per short ton. The US HRC futures contract spot price held steady around $655.00 per short ton.
