This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES-H2) are trading higher by 3.50 points to 1405.25 per contract. The markets continue to rally despite some headwinds out of Spain, Greece, and Portugal. The leading European markets have also held up fine this week. Traders and investors continue to remain euphoric about the economy across the globe. Today is options expiration, traders should expect the major stock indexes in the U.S. to trade lightly after the first couple of hours after the open.
Gold and silver are starting the day lower. Traders can watch for a bounce off of the morning lows in the precious metals if the U.S. Dollar Index futures (DX M2) continue to decline. Leading trading vehicles such as ProShares Ultra Silver ETF (NYSEARCA:AGQ), iShares Gold Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:IAU), and the PowerShares DB Gold Double Long ETN (NYSEARCA:DGP) could all be very volatile today.
