US 10-Year Note Non-Commercial Speculator Positions:
Large bond market speculators reduced their bearish net positions in the 10-Year Note futures markets this week, according to the latest Commitment of Traders (COT) data released by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Friday.
The non-commercial futures contracts of 10-Year Note futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net position of -330,635 contracts in the data reported through Tuesday April 10th. This was a weekly gain of 44,730 contracts from the previous week which had a total of -375,365 net contracts.
Speculative bearish positions remain highly bearish with the net position still above the -300,000 contract level for a fourth straight week which is the longest such streak since January-February of 2017.
10-Year Note Commercial Positions:
The commercial traders position, hedgers or traders engaged in buying and selling for business purposes, totaled a net position of 535,978 contracts on the week. This was a weekly loss of -30,074 contracts from the total net of 566,052 contracts reported the previous week.
IEF ETF:
Over the same weekly reporting time-frame, from Tuesday to Tuesday, the iShares 7-10 Year Treasury Bond (NYSE:IEF) ETF (NASDAQ:IEF) closed at approximately $102.76 which was a fall of $-0.03 from the previous close of $102.79, according to unofficial market data.
