Investing.com - Investor confidence in the euro zone for January improved to the highest level in five months, easing concerns over the outlook for the region’s economy, data showed on Monday.
In a report, market research group, Sentix said its index of investor confidence improved to 0.9 this month, from a reading of -2.5 in December. Analysts had expected the index to improve to -1.0 in January.
On the index, a level above 0.0 indicates optimism, below indicates pessimism.
EUR/USD was trading at 1.1960 from around 1.1950 ahead of the release of the data, while EUR/GBP was at 0.7812 from 0.7806 earlier.
Meanwhile, European stock markets remained lower. The EURO STOXX 50 shed 0.35%, France’s CAC 40 fell 0.1%, Germany's DAX dipped 0.1%, while London’s FTSE 100 declined 0.45%.
