Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction & Engineering, Healthcare and Footwear & Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.41% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were J L Morison Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC (CM:MORI), which rose 14.94% or 63.70 points to trade at 490.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) added 14.29% or 1.20 points to end at 9.60 and Millennium Housing Developers PLC (CM:MHDL) was up 12.22% or 1.10 points to 10.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which fell 24.81% or 3349.00 points to trade at 10151.00 at the close. Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) declined 8.89% or 1.20 points to end at 12.30 and Autodrome PLC (CM:AUTO) was down 6.15% or 4.80 points to 73.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 119 to 64 and 67 ended unchanged.
Shares in Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 14.29% or 1.20 to 9.60. Shares in Millennium Housing Developers PLC (CM:MHDL) rose to all time highs; up 12.22% or 1.10 to 10.10.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.72% or 0.33 to $46.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.78% or 0.38 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.29 to trade at $1219.59 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.36% to 199.215, while USD/LKR rose 0.01% to 153.660.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 95.46.
