Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Real Estate and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.40%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 2.98% or 7.35 points to trade at 253.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) added 2.82% or 11.75 points to end at 427.85 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.56% or 102.60 points to 4097.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which fell 2.53% or 10.55 points to trade at 406.50 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 1.77% or 8.85 points to end at 491.85 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was down 1.56% or 5.90 points to 371.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which rose 2.96% to 253.70, Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was up 1.60% to settle at 390.45 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.58% to close at 2959.40.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.25% to 406.50 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 1.43% to settle at 493.40 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.71% to 215.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1064 to 482 and 21 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1609 rose and 873 declined, while 144 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.11% to 12.8875.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.53% or 7.01 to $1337.41 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.33% or 0.63 to hit $47.92 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.31 to trade at $52.65 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.14% to 64.105, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 76.2898.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 92.48.
