Investing.com - U.S. stocks were mixed after the closing bell on Tuesday.
At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28%, the S&P 500 index gained 0.22%, while the Nasdaq 100 index declined 0.58%.
Earlier in the day, data showed that CB consumer confidence in the U.S. rose more-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted 56.0 last month from 40.9 in the preceding month whose figure was revised up from 39.8.
Analysts had expected CB consumer confidence to rise to 43.0 last month.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed higher. France’s CAC 40 was up 0.46%; Germany’s DAX gained 0.95%; Britain’s FTSE 100 climbed 0.46%; and the EURO STOXX 50 rose 0.56%.
