Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors led shares higher.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 2.79% or 28.00 points to trade at 1031.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 2.03% or 15.60 points to end at 783.30 and St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) was up 1.97% or 23.00 points to 1193.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which fell 4.79% or 189.00 points to trade at 3753.00 at the close. Provident Financial (LON:PFG) declined 4.20% or 39.00 points to end at 890.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was down 3.08% or 42.00 points to 1324.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1075 to 909 and 436 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 3.54 to $1277.36 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.06% or 0.55 to hit $52.45 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.50% or 0.86 to trade at $58.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.61% to 1.3116, while EUR/GBP rose 0.74% to 0.8968.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 93.82.
