Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Hotels, Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.66% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which rose 9.97% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Lite-On Semiconductor Corp (TW:5305) added 9.89% or 3.55 points to end at 39.45 and GenMont Biotech Inc (TW:3164) was up 9.83% or 2.30 points to 25.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which fell 5.23% or 0.80 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) declined 4.61% or 2.00 points to end at 41.35 and Tex-Ray Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1467) was down 4.37% or 0.50 points to 10.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 405 to 359 and 108 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lite-On Semiconductor Corp (TW:5305) rose to 5-year highs; rising 9.89% or 3.55 to 39.45.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.64% or 0.33 to $50.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.63% or 0.36 to hit $56.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.64% or 8.24 to trade at $1297.14 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 30.202, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2185.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 92.72.
